At CRU in Hoxton we pioneer wines made by small producers,
many of which are from obscure places or less well-known varieties and
organic or handmade where possible. All our wines are outstanding in
some way.
We have sought to avoid many of the pretensions that are
occasionally associated with wine, the list we keep to a simple format
arranged by weight, texture and flavour and in addition there are
detailed notes on every wine. At CRU you will not find a sommelier,
instead we encourage all our staff to discuss the wine list with
customers and regularly new wines are offered by the glass to help make
decisions a little easier! We maintain an appreciation and culture of
wine in our wine school led by Morgan Devine.
All our staff attend the in house school which ensures they are able to
advise on the list and where appropriate suggest their own favourites.
We also offer a series of
wine tasting evenings
for the public, bookable in advance these classes seek to highlight
less familiar styles and regions. And for those that would like to
continue the experience at home all of our wines are available to take
away, so please ask for the
off-sales list when visiting.
