Hoxton,
Shoreditch has always been at the forefront in entertainment. It
was home to ‘The Theatre’ - the first purpose-built theatre where
Shakespeare performed and the Gainsborugh Film Studios where Hitchock
first crafted his thriller skills.

15
years ago Hoxton became renowned as the birthplace of ‘Britart’,
following fledgling artists like Tracy Emin moving into the area
attracted by its then cheap studio space. Of course where there is art,
there will always be a hive of entertainment and boho bars, restaurants
and clubs sprung up to accompany the pretty young things. Hoxton’s
reputation as the creative home and spirit and to London'’s
contemporary art scene has been solidified by galleries such as White
Cube, Flowers & Victoria Miro all choosing to increase their
presence in area by extending their permanent galleries.

A
new air of sophistication suggests Shoreditch is maturing, as many new
boutiques, restaurants and bars pepper the area attracting those who
work in the ‘City’; indeed Hoxton’s location close to the markets of
Columbia Rd, Brick Lane and Spitalfields make it a popular destination
at weekends for
all Londoners.
