BLOG - Vino, Vino, Vine

Most restaurants aren't that keen to give their customers a forum to discuss the positives and negatives of their dining experiences. But CRU is quite an unusual restaurant ... I lovingly select the wine list trying to ensure that wheneve possible we buy from the smaller more distinctive vineyards. I would love to hear all your comments about the wine, the good, the bad and of course the revolting! Do blog away and share with me and our other customers any great wines that you have discovered when at CRU or outside of CRU.

Can you reccommend some appertifs that i could serve at my husbands 45th birthday brunch, i was thinking a cocktail, perhaps, its a garden party. Thanks Rebecca

A bellini is always a perfect brunch drink, you jsut need some white peach purree and prosecco.  Pour in a little white peach to the base of the champagne glass and add prosecco, hope the day goes well.

Island wines? are these the same wines that you are promoting or are there a few others that one could taste if attending the tastings?

Yes the wines that you will taste are all wines on the promotion plus a couple of extras.  These wines are quite unsual  such as the 'Marco de Bartoli Josephine Dore, Sciliy and during the tasting platters are food are served, it's an enjoyable challenge to match a wine like this with food

How long do the wine tastings last & do i need to buy tickets in advance, also wondering what tastings you will be doing in September as might book for a work function

The tasting lasts about 2 hours.  You must buy tickets in advance, there are about 16 people in the tasting.

In a few weeks i will post the new tasting dates, so just bear with me on that.  Kate

Thanks so much CRU. Our 40th brunch bash was a hit. So relaxed, great service and delightful staff. Seriously it was good Anne-marie and i loved it, my sisters reccommendation was spot on and worth the trip from Notting Hill, i guess we don't have everything in west london! Rob

Swish site! We are off to France in a few weeks and scolling through your website we see a couple the vineyards of our favourite wines listed, do you think we could contact them and see if we can perhaps visit them? Just wondered if you have a relationship with any of them.

Thanks for the compliment.  We just launched it, so you're one of the first to Blog.  Yes by all means contact the vineyards, they host tours and are always delighted to welcome customers.  Just email me brendanmurdock@cru.uk.com with dates etc and I will then contact them.  I think i need to make a few visits to them aswell!

Hi there, When is your next wine tasting, which wines will be on offer, and can anyone turn up or do you need to book in advance? Thanks

The next tastings is on the 13th july and 16th Aug.

On the 13th July we will be tasting wines from the mediterian islands of Sardinia, Corsica & Sciliy.  priced at £40 pp

On the 16th August we are tasting some fine Champagnes.  priced at £50pp

Both wine tastings commence at 7pm, taking place in the Walnut room and hosted by our wine expert Kate Thal.  Kate is one of the most knowledgeable wine experts in London and she has proved a real hit at CRU.   The sessions are quite informal and relaxed,  but at the same time she takes wine very seriously indeed so you leave having learnt a great deal.  The tasting lasts about 2hrs, after that Kathy sends out platters to taste that she and kate devises to go with the wines you have just tasted.  Bookings must be made in advance.
